1. When a student should lodge his visa file?
As soon as possible.
2. How long should the passport be valid?
Till the course gets over.
3. How many photograqphs are required?
10 passport size photographs.
4. What should be the size of photographs?
3.5 cm x 4.5 cm in size. It should be against white background.
5. How is the visa file submitted to France Consulate?
Once the whole file is ready, the applicant needs to submit the file at VFS.
6. How many sets of visa file do I need to prepare?
1 set in original + 3 set in photocopy with true copy done by Public Notary.
7. Do I need to face an interview?
Yes.
8. Where my interview will be conducted?
Your interview will be conducted by the Director of Alliance Francaise in your region.
9. Do I need to visit France Consulate in Mumbai?
Yes. You need to visit France Consulate in Mumbai for completing Biometric Test.
10. When will I get my passport back after submitting for final visa stamping?
You will get your passport back within 3 to 5 days from the date of submission.
11. What is Long Stay Visa?
You need to obtain Long Stay Visa for a study program of a greater than 3 months.
12. After how many days can I get temporary resident status in France?
On completion of 3 months u will get temporary residence.
13. Do I need to know French to study in France?
No, several courses especially in engineering (all branches), management, hospitality, fashion studies, economics, etc are available in English. However, it is a good idea to start on French to make your stay more rewarding and fruitful.
14. Can I take my spouse and child as dependent?
Yes. On completion of 3 months you can take your spouse and child as dependant.
15. Is sponsorship from USA, U.K. acceptable?
Yes.
16. What kind of Insurances are required, what does it mean to take a cover of 50,000 US dollars?
To establish the French VISA the student has to necessarily take an insurance for a minimum duration of three months. This insurance should start from the date of departure and should cover medical expenses and repatriation. An approximate cost for subscribing to such a plan is between Rs 3500 -Rs 4000 and guarantees a cover of up to 50000 US dollars. These insurances can be purchased from companies like TATA AIG, Bajaj Allianz, New India Insurance, ICICI Lombard etc.
